Unfortunately as I feared this series seems to focus mostly on the bad..... Perpetuating A negative stereotype that Chicago is a "bad" or "dangerous" place overall. Not helping the image of a city that is underrated and often under appreciated. Not to say that crime and public schools aren't an issue... They are. But people often get the image that Chicago is not a good place to be. It couldn't be more the opposite. Besides what the media leads us to believe Chicago continues to improve and transform neighborhoods every day. Places like wicker park Cabrini green even south and west loop have transformed into amazing livable neighborhoods that were bad in decades past. The downtown area and areas around it are beautiful and house world class restaurants, shopping, hotels and corporate offices not to mention miles of parks and beachfront. The only reason we are "The murder Capitol" is because we're are #3 largest. Kudos to NYC and LA for getting their crime down further. They have their bad neighborhoods too... Per capita Chicago does not even come close to top 10 most dangerous American cities. St. Louis Detroit Baltimore and buffalo have higher crime rates. Not to mention our homicide rate is roughly HALF what it was in parts of the 70's 80's and 90's but no one acknowledges that. I have lived in the area for 27 years and there aren't many other places I would rather be!
